Delay of Congress to claim to form government in the '04 surprised Kalam.

NEW DELHI: Former President APJ Abdul Kalam has expressed his surprise that Congress did not intend the game to form the government for three days after his stunning victory over NDA in the 2004 elections.

In an account of his entries in Rashtrapati Bhavan on turning points in his last book, '"Kalam said while the Congress emerged the largest party, which was not presented to the statement game." Although (being the largest party), three days have passed and no party or coalition that appeared to form the government. It was a concern for me, and I asked my secretary and ran a letter to Congress leader to file and claim game, "he has written.

Sonia Gandhi, met the head Kalam on May 18 and nominated Manmohan Singh, the last of the Prime Minister. Kalam said a sigh of relief after Singh was sworn in on May 22, but he remained baffled that three days passed without any complaint. Congressional sources said the delay is procedural and that the party in Parliament had to meet and elect their leader.

Kalam recalled the formation of the government in 2004 as a key event, given the task of appointing a PM was very difficult as there was no clear majority party."In this context, the 2004 election was an interesting event. Elections ended, the results were announced and none of the political parties had the strength to form the government on their own," he said.
