Hyderabad, June 28: BJP national secretary P. Muralidhar Rao on Thursday appealed to MPs and MLAs of the state, Telangana statehood for and want a lasting solution to the uncertainty, not to vote for Pranab Mukherjee, in the presidential election.
Speaking to mediapersons at the BJP's state office here, Muralidhar Rao, said that after completion of the nomination, political discussion would take place in the country about the presidential candidates and political party support. As the presidential election is indirect, the limited discussion would take place, he said. During the 2004 elections, Congress had said it would take positive measures in the state of Telangana carving and included the issue in the Common Minimum Programme (CMP). As part of this, the UPA has created a three-member committee headed by Pranab Mukherjee, to study the issue of statehood for Telangana, he said.
The BJP leader alleged that Pranab Mukherjee, who is known as a troubleshooter, had failed miserably to find a solution to the issue of Telangana statehood which resulted in unrest and political uncertainty in the state.
