BHABUA / NEW DELHI: Twenty-six loaded coal wagons of a freight train derailed near Bhabua railway station in the district of Kaimur Bihar apparently due to a technical fault on the train line, stopping the circulation of about 90 trains on the busy Howrah-New Delhi route.The freight train derailed in Gaya-Mughalsarai section of East Central Railway and the night before.

First the government, it seems there was a technical failure on the railway line. But the real cause of the derailment could be ascertained after an investigation," said Amitabh Prabhakar, spokesman for the East Central railway.The freight train coming from Mughalsarai union Dhanbad. The derailment has caused damage to the tracks and hit the regular train services on the cable line."We're diverting all passenger trains on different routes, as the three lines between Gaya and Mughalsarai are blocked because the derailment," said Prabhakar, adding that "the main focus is on restoring the line.


Asked how soon the train service on the line will be restored, said it would take about 48 hours to restore the line entirely.The movement of freight train has been suspended in the affected route and the priority is to divert passenger trains," he said.

90 trains including Howrah Rajdhani, Rajdhani Bhubaneswar Rajdhani and Jammu Tawi Sealdah mail are being diverted to Gaya-Patna route. Sealdah-New Delhi Duronto Express has been diverted to Chunar Gomo-Barka-Howrah-Kalka route as mail has been diverted to Patna-Mughalsarai Jhaja-route.


Senior railway officials have come to the scene to oversee rescue and restoration operation. A relief train was sent to the scene of Mughalsarai.Northern Railway has opened various numbers of help lines to assist passengers.
The help lines are operational in the old station of Delhi (011-23962389, 011-23962332), New Delhi (011-23341074, 011-23342954), Varanasi (0542-2504658) and Lucknow (0522-2635844, 09794830973, 09,794,830,975).
