Bangalore, June 27: Senior BJP leader and former Karnataka minister DH Shankaramurthy is all set to be re-elected unanimously as President of the Legislative Council in special session convened for a day tomorrow.Governor HR Bhardwaj has appointed former Union Minister and senior Congress leader MV Rajasekharan as the Pro-limit for the session, starting at 11.00.
72 years old, Shankaramurthy is a member of the Legislative Council Southwestern Graduate constituency for the fifth row.Mr. Shankaramurthy was elected President in July 2010 and the post was lying vacant after the expiration of his term this month.With the ruling BJP, enjoying a majority in the Legislative Council.
With 41 seats in the House member 75, Mr. Shankaramurthy is all set to be elected unanimously as the opposition Congress and Janata Dal (Secular), with 17 and 12 seats respectively, are showing no interest in aligning their candidates.
