Shimla: The World Bank granted a loan of U.S. $ 200 million (R 1,100 million rupees) to Himachal Pradesh to promote green initiatives and sustainable development in the state, an official statement said Friday.
"The loan component amounting to 20 million dollars would be at a subsidized rate of 0.74 percent payable in 30 years," said the Chief Secretary Sudripta Roy in a statement.
He said the loan constituted 90 percent of grant and loan of 10 percent.According to the Forest Inventory 2009 of India, Himachal Pradesh has 37,033 km square of forest area, of which 3,224 km square of forest is very dense.
