Chennai, June 27: Forty passengers were injured when a State-owned Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus fell from the Anna flyover in the city and overturned this afternoon.Police sources said the bus driver of the MTC, building on the corner of Parry Vadapalani, lost control of the vehicle while driving on the overpass.
Turning left at the bridge, the bus hit the small parapet on the right side and fell off the bridge from a height of approximately 15 feet.About 40 to 50 people, including the bus driver, Prem Prasad and driver on the bus when the accident occurred, the free flow of traffic overwhelming.
Police said at least 40 people were injured and were rescued safely by the fire service and police.They were admitted to public hospital trains.About three to four people who have suffered serious injuries, witnesses said.The front of the bus was badly damaged and the driver and those who sat in the front is said to have suffered extensive injuries.
