The Mumbai crime branch on Wednesday arrested Dubai-based Laila Khan "husband" Wafi Khan alias Sonu immediately after landing in Dubai. Sonu who converted to Islam and became Wafi Khan is the son of the Dubai-based non-resident Indian Jadhwani Kamal.
Parvez Tak, the main accused in the killing of Laila and her family told police that Laila was married to Sonu and he wanted to move to Dubai with his family. Police have arrested Sonu Telligalli Andheri office and is recording his statement. Police are trying to figure out if it has any role to play in Sonu murder. There are reports that police have recovered the passport and visa Sonu Laila. Sonu, who has a fleet of vehicles, including a Lamborghni arrived from Dubai at the request of his father. Jadhwani insisted that his son come to the police and clarify all doubts.
So far during the investigation, police have found no connection between Sonu and murder. "We are recording his statement and it is too early to say whether it has any role or not," said Additional Police Commissioner Kaushik niket.
Laila, her mother Saleena Patel ,Azmina Patel older sister, twin brothers and Zara Imran Khan and a relative Reshma also known as Tulli had mysteriously disappeared from his Oshiwara flat on February 7, 2011.
