Fortunately for her, a doctor on rounds has caused alarm and the man was turned over to police. Remains to be answered, however, how a stranger was allowed to enter one of the city hospitalsin the government above the darkness of night, jeopardizing patient safety.

The sources said the woman, who hails from Calcutta and lives in Defence Colony, is the wife of a senior army officer. Police denied the claim.DCP (South) Chhaya Sharma said the accused, Praveen Kumar, who works as an assistant in a private laboratory in Yusuf Sarai, had tried to rape digitally patient. Safdarjung police registered a case of attempted rape and arrested him.

Kumar said the police, entered the hospital around 1:30 am on Saturday, saying he had come to deliver a test report to a patient in the women's ward. Surprisingly, no one contested his claim and was allowed to just walk in security complex. The victim was nine months pregnant, was admitted on Friday, was caught off guard in the last hours. He took her to an isolated part of the room, claiming that a doctor wanted to study at that time.

Praveen said he had come to deliver the test report of the victim, but took the room. He tried to stick his finger in her genitals when she resisted and screamed for help, "said a senior official.

"At that point, one of the doctors at the hospital came and saw the accused of harassment of the patient. The victim also complained to the doctor." The doctor warned the family of the victim and the police.
