Indian youngsters to replace ageing stars

COLOMBO: Team India is going through a transitional phase, since there are very few players, especially the aging of the hitters, who are at the fag end of their careers.

Rahul Dravid has hung up his boots and others like Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman will follow suit and is only a matter of time.There are also younger players around, they fill up the vacancies in the next couple of years. While the transition has been underway in the ODIs, the real test will be the transition into the Test team.

With a couple of Test series comes in the next few months, India will need at least a couple of hitters to fill the shoes of Dravid and Laxman possible future upward.We have a few talented players around that have been identified by the management team," said Gautam Gambhir this correspondent just before the third ODI against Sri Lanka at Premadasa Stadium.
