NEW DELHI: Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Ramos was interrogated by the Directorate of Enforcement on Friday in the allocation of more than 600 hectares of limestone quarries of their business when his father was chief minister YSR Reddy of Andhra Pradesh. The agency estimates that the quarries to a value of Rs 3,000 crore.The limestone quarries were awarded in May 2009 Saraswati Power Industries Ltd (SPIL), a company controlled by Jagan. The award was made some months before YSR, then chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, died in a helicopter crash.
Another accusation of money laundering against Jagan is Rs 124 crore investment routed through some shell companies in Mauritius. The sources said officials of ED Jagan asked the source of these funds.
Sandur Power Company Ltd, another company associated with Jagan, received 124 crore rupees from two companies based in Mauritius. The ED probe revealed that Jagan had bought back the shares of both companies. ED officials have sought information on the origin of these funds.
The emergency department was in the August 30, 2011 reported a case of money laundering against Jagan in Law Money Laundering Prevention. Scanner societies ED include Sandur Power Company Ltd, Carmel Asia Holdings Ltd., Classic Realty Ltd., Bharati Cement Corporation Ltd and Jagathi Publications Pvt Ltd.
ED officials questioning Jagan are armed with detailed reports of the Financial Intelligence Unit and the department of income tax with the documentary evidence contained in the transactions made by some of the companies accused of money laundering. The agency had issued subpoenas to these companies seeking clarification.
