KABUL: An Afghan governor and at least 17 Taliban militants were killed in the violence, authorities said Sunday.
Mohammad Ismael Wafa, governor of Chak district, about 30 of Kabul, was on his way to the office when Taliban militants fired on his vehicle on Sunday, Xinhua reported.
Seventeen militants were killed by Afghan police, army and NATO forces in different provinces of Afghanistan in the last 24 hours until noon on Sunday.A lot of weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades, machine guns and pistols were seized. Eighteen militants were arrested, the Interior Ministry.
