Vijayawada : The three-day festival Sakambhari in the famous temple of Kanaka Durga, the hilltop Indrakeeladri here began today.
Thousands of devotees from all over the state thronged the temple to have darshan of the goddess who appeared as Sakambhari Devi.
The deity was decorated with festoons, vegetables and legumes, were tied in the temple. The temple was decorated with various vegetables.
Temple priest Sharma said the goddess Durga Devi Sakambhari appearing as three days. He said that the deity was decorated with several vehicles during the festival. The festival kicked off today at 09:00 hours with the making of "harathi pooja mantras through songs and hymns.
The priest said the festival is celebrated Sakambhari to invoke the goddess Kanaka Durga to give rain and eliminate the drought.
